Access control systems in government buildings usually start with a security checkpoint (magnetometer), at the entry points. But there are many other systems that can limit access to certain areas to authorized personnel. They are also installed in elevators, that will only stop at certain floors when a particular person
is in them, by using biometric readers (fingerprint recognition) or magnetic stripe cards. The advantage of access control systems is that you can monitor who was in a certain part of the building at a certain time, if necessary. Vehicle access gates and time clocks, pin pads, magnetic locks, wireless interface, visitor badging and surveillance and CCTV systems can all be integrated with access control.
A variety of environments use these systems such as detention centers, courthouses, banks, retail shops, hospitals, airports and seaports, schools and campuses, to name a few. The most common brands of access control systems that IFSS installs and services are Lenel, Hirsch, Open Options, DSX, Software House and Vanderbilt.
